Why is the mobile apps not open to all public users?

In order to increase the credibility of each emergency notification, Boatman will only review registered boats. After that, you can freely form a team with other users to connect to the boat, which can effectively issue emergency notifications faster.

What boat information should I prepare for review?

1. Boat plate number and current mooring location

2. a photo of your boat showing the boat is currently moored there.

3. a valid boat certificate of ownership / insurance document / contract to prove you own or operate the boat.

If i own or manage several boats, which one should i upload when registering?

Enter your main boat number first if you own or manage few boats. You can add or change it later.

Does the system have a sending sequence?

Yes. Closer the incident location, the faster will be received. That’s why to report accuracy is so important.

How does the system improve the reliability of emergency notifications?

In addition to our verification procedure, the boat plate number will be displayed along with your account name on emergency notifications, increasing the credibility of the information.

How to receive emergency notification ?

1. Download Boatman Apps ( click here )

2. Register free account

3. Add a new boat or join a team

4. Boatman will verify each new boat document

5. You will receive notification if someone reported in your location/ shelter after your boat has been approved.

How to join a team ?

When you are invited to join a team, you will find the team code in the SMS text message and in “Notifications” > “Messages” in the Boatman app. Then click “Add boat” on the “Home Page" and follow the steps to complete.

Or in the app “Notifications” > “Messages” , to click “Accept” the invitation to join the team.

How to build a team ?

If you are the Boat Owner / Representative, you can first “Add boat" and follow the steps. Then fill in the teammate’s role, name and mobile phone number.

There are the following 2 options:

1. “My Account" > “Boat Information” > "Team Members” > “+“

2. “Homepage" > “Boat Information” >  “+”

How to invite others to join the team ?

In addition to the identity of the Boat Owner / Representative, you can also follow the above 2 steps and then fill in the role of the team members, names and mobile phone numbers to invite others to join your team.

Why can’t I receive Apps Push notification ?

Please check whether the relevant settings on your mobile phone are turned on, and the boat you connect must first be verified  by our Boatman. The system will then send notifications to your mobile phone number. Please contact us the boat status review.

Why can’t I receive SMS/ voice notification ?

Please check whether the relevant settings on your phone are turned on, and you must upgrade our Boatman Plus version beforehand.

What SMS/ telephone number as sender ?

The system will send text messages and voice notifications through , we strongly recommend that you save our phone number in advance to avoid being blocked by other applications.

Will my test messages deliver to all users ? 

No. Test messages will only be received by you personally. Receive and report once your vessel is certified. We also strongly recommend that you test report events monthly to become familiar with our application. If you have any questions, please contact us as soon as possible.

Does Boatman have an enterprise pricing plan?

Yes. Please kindly submit the Business Registration Certificate and Certificate of Boat Ownership to email hello@boatman.com.hk and we can also provide some technical advice, other solutions or enterprise pricing plans.
